I’ve been growing this beautiful plant in my garden called Lamb’s Ear. The name fits perfectly—its leaves truly feel like a lamb’s ear, soft, velvety, and gentle to the touch. It’s a perennial herb in the mint family, Lamiaceae, but it doesn’t smell like mint. When I began infusing it, I was surprised to find that it has a light, sweet scent reminiscent of cotton candy.
Through my research, I learned that Lamb’s Ear has a long history of practical use.
“This plant has long been appreciated in traditional herbal practices for its soft, velvety leaves and its reputation for being a comforting, supportive botanical. Inspired by that history, I created a gentle salve using my MCT herbal infusion and natural organic beeswax. The result is a soothing, nourishing blend that helps the skin feel calm, balanced, and well‑conditioned.”
I’ve used this salve on a cut on my finger, and it worked beautifully. I keep a jar in my cabinet so it’s always on hand when I need it.
The infusion has a soft green tint, as shown in the photo. I don’t have a large quantity available because the season is changing and the plant is going into dormancy. Once it dies back for the winter, I won’t be able to make more until next summer.
